Quick summary: The Grenada passport grants visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to nearly all of Europe (43 of 46 countries, including the Schengen area, the UK via ETA, Ireland, and Russia), most of South America and the Caribbean, plus China, Hong Kong, and Singapore in Asia. Only three major destinations still require visas: the US, Canada, and Japan. According to QuocTich.com data updated 09/2026, the published figure is 146 destinations (rank 15), while our detailed matrix counts 127 countries.
People inquiring about the Grenada passport often ask one question: "How many countries can I visit?" A better question is: "Which countries can I visit, and are the places I actually need to go included?"
This article answers the second question. We've broken down the list by region and compared it to passports from other countries, and we'll clarify why the same passport has two different numbers: 146 and 127. QuocTich.com is part of Viking Global Group, founded by the first Vietnamese citizen to acquire Grenadian citizenship through investment in 2014 — so we'll also be honest about what this passport cannot do.
Why does the same passport have two different numbers?
146 is the figure published by the Henley Passport Index 2026. This is the number we display on the Grenada page and use for ranking, because it's the most widely cited.
127 is the result of counting from our detailed visa matrix: 199 countries, each pair with its own rule. We count visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, and ETA options; we do not count e-visas. The methodology is explained on our visa-free calculation page.
The gap exists because the two methods use different measurements. Henley counts 227 destinations, including dependent territories (many Caribbean islands, Pacific territories of the UK, France, and the Netherlands) — places where the Grenada passport typically enters freely. Our matrix includes only sovereign nations. Both are correct by their own standard; the key point is never compare Henley's figure for one country with our matrix figure for another.
If we use the same matrix measurement across all countries, Grenada (127) ranks alongside St. Kitts & Nevis (136), Antigua & Barbuda (134), St. Lucia (128), and Dominica (122). A comparative table of five Caribbean passports is available in the article Caribbean Passport Rankings 2026.
Overview table: Grenada passport by region
All figures below are from QuocTich.com data, updated 09/2026, derived from our country matrix.
| Region | Countries (excl. Grenada) | Visa-free or visa-on-arrival | e-visa | Visa required | Passport from other countries, visa-free access |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | 46 | 43 | 1 | 2 | 0 |
| Asia | 50 | 21 | 18 | 11 | 20 |
| Africa | 54 | 27 | 14 | 13 | 18 |
| North & Central America | 10 | 4 | 1 | 5 | 1 |
| South America | 12 | 11 | 0 | 1 | 2 |
| Caribbean | 12 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 5 |
| Oceania | 14 | 9 | 1 | 4 | 6 |
| Total | 198 | 127 | 35 | 36 | 52 |
The final column shows the comparative advantage. The largest gaps appear in Europe (43 vs. 0), South America (11 vs. 2), and the Caribbean (12 vs. 5). In Asia and Africa, the Grenada passport and passports from other countries are more evenly matched — in fact, other passports have a slight edge in Asia.

Europe: nearly comprehensive, including non-Schengen countries
The Grenada passport enters 42 European countries without a visa, plus the UK via ETA:
- The entire Schengen zone plus two EU countries outside Schengen: Ireland and Cyprus — each visit up to 90 days within 180 days.
- United Kingdom: submit ETA online before travel; no visa required. Verify with Grenada passport to UK.
- Outside the EU: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, microstates, most of the Balkans (Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Kosovo, Moldova), plus Russia and Ukraine.
Only three destinations remain closed: Albania issues e-visas; North Macedonia and Belarus require visas.
Note: visa-free access is for short-term visits only. The Grenada passport does not grant the right to live or work in the EU or UK.
Asia: China is the standout advantage
| Category | Countries |
|---|---|
| Visa-free | China (30 days), Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Israel, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Palestine |
| Visa-on-arrival | Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Jordan, Iran, East Timor |
| ETA | South Korea |
| e-visa | UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan… |
| Visa required | Japan, Taiwan, Brunei, Myanmar, Kuwait, Azerbaijan… |
Visa-free access to China is one of the Grenada passport's biggest advantages in Asia. Business people with China exposure see this value most clearly. Verify directly with Grenada passport to China.
The downside in Asia is that Japan and Taiwan still require visas, and most Gulf countries operate e-visa systems.
Americas: most of South America open, but North America still requires visas
South America: 11 of 12 countries. Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay… are visa-free, with Peru and Suriname offering stays up to 180 days. Bolivia issues visa-on-arrival. Only Paraguay requires a visa.
Central America: Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize are visa-free; Nicaragua issues visa-on-arrival; El Salvador requires e-visa; Guatemala and Honduras require visas.
North America: The US, Canada, and Mexico all require visas. This is where much marketing overstates the passport's value.
But regarding the US, Grenada has something different: a trade agreement that allows Grenadian citizens to apply for the E-2 investor visa. Other countries do not have this access. E-2 is not visa-free — it involves real investment, business plans, and interviews — but it is a door that most passports cannot open. Step-by-step guidance and common pitfalls are covered in the article Grenada to E-2 US: The Complete Path.
Caribbean: visa-free entry to all 12 remaining nations in the region.
Africa and Oceania: moderate access
Africa: 27 of 54 countries do not require advance visa applications. Visa-free access in Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Seychelles, Rwanda, Uganda…; visa-on-arrival in Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Mozambique…; Kenya and Côte d'Ivoire use ETA. South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria still require visas.
Oceania: 9 of 14. Fiji and Vanuatu are visa-free for 120 days; Kiribati and Micronesia are visa-free; Samoa, Palau, Tuvalu, and the Solomon Islands issue visa-on-arrival. Australia requires e-visa; New Zealand requires a visa.
Limitations: what the Grenada passport cannot do
No visa-free access to the US, Canada, or Japan. These three destinations — the ones most people care about — all require visas. The Grenada passport cannot replace visa applications for the US or Canada.
No right of residence in Europe. Schengen visa-free access is 90 out of every 180 days for tourism or business. For longer stays, you still need a separate residence permit.
The list can shrink. The visa-free access of a citizenship-by-investment passport depends on how partner countries view it. The EU has temporarily suspended visa waivers for other programs due to concerns about due diligence, and Caribbean citizenship programs face increasing scrutiny. Stricter vetting and new residency requirements are conditions for maintaining this list — buyers need to understand that maintaining passport value has a cost.
Some access comes with conditions. Some destinations only apply to tourism, limit the number of days, or require a return ticket and proof of funds at the border. Before each trip, verify the specific pair of countries.
Grenada plus another passport: total combined access
Many Vietnamese citizens who acquire Grenadian citizenship retain their Vietnamese passport. So the practical question is: If I hold both, how many countries can I access?
According to our matrix, holding both passports together provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 138 nations (not counting the two home countries). The other passport fills in 11 gaps where Grenada lacks access: Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, Taiwan (conditional ETA), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Namibia, and the Marshall Islands.
You can run your own check using our passport combination tool. When you hold dual citizenship, there are established rules for which passport to use at each border — do not make decisions on the fly.
