What's Happening
In line with other members of the Caribbean "Big 5," Grenada is strengthening its due diligence procedures for citizenship by investment applications. This is a direct result of pressure from the EU and United States demanding greater transparency across the CBI sector.
What This Means for Investors
Applications Currently in Process: Standard requirements at the time of submission remain in effect. Clients already working with Viking Global Group on their applications need not take additional action.
New Applications: Significantly more thorough preparation is required across three key areas:
- Proof of Funds — not just account balances, but the complete money trail (contracts, bank statements, asset documentation)
- Comprehensive Criminal Records from every country where you have resided for more than 6 months
- Clear Professional Background that aligns with your tax documentation
Our Perspective
Tighter standards are not bad news. The CBI industry survives on passport credibility — the cleaner the program, the longer the passport retains its visa-free value. Programs with lax standards are what prompt the EU to revoke agreements, as has occurred with certain Pacific island programs.
With thorough and honest preparation from the start, actual processing times remain essentially unchanged.
